Ragi Pakoda is a very famous evening snack in my hometown Coimbatore. This is also a quick and easy snack when you have an unexpected guest. We need very few ingredients which makes a delicious and healthy snack. Ragi is finger millet in English and we all know it has got numerous health benefits. This can also be served as a side for sambar rice.

I make ragi pakoda very often for my children. They enjoy eating this as a snack. You can also make them in a big batch and store them in the air-tight container for a day or two.

Benefits of Finger Millet (Ragi):

  1. It is loaded with calcium.
  2. It helps in weight loss.
  3. Ragi controls diabetes.
  4. It is high in protein.
  5. Ragi prevents your skin from ageing.

Tips to make perfect Ragi Pakoda:

  1. Do not add too much water to make a dough.
  2. You can even add fried gram while preparing the dough.
  3. This tastes good when served hot.

Here is the step by step process:

Take 1 ½ cups of ragi flour in a bowl. Now add 1 tbsp rice flour.

Then add salt to taste, 1 onion (finely chopped),

Then add 2 sprigs curry leaves, 1 tbsp grated ginger, 1 green chilli finely chopped, 2 tbsp coriander leaves.

Now mix everything well by adding water little by little. The dough should not be too wet.

Pakoda dough is ready to fry. Take some oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, take the prepared dough and add small pieces in the oil. Cook on medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.

Ragi pakoda is ready to serve.

Ingredients

  • Ragi Flour - 1 1/2 cups
  • Rice Flour - 1 tbsp
  • Onion - 1 number (finely chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp (grated)
  • Green Chilli - 1 number (finely chopped)
  • Curry Leaves - 1 sprigs (chopped finely)
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method
