Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai is a very simple and easy recipe. This can be prepared in 15 minutes with minimal ingredients. Kozhukattai is usually prepared during festivals especially Ganesha Chathurthi. We always celebrate Ganesha Chathurthi really well compare to all other festivals. We make our own Eco-Friendly Ganesha which gives more happiness than the one we buy from the shop. There are so many dishes which we prepare for Chathurthi like Sundal, Sweet Coconut Kozhukattai, Pidi Kozhukattai, Ammini Kozhukattai, Ven Pongal, Sweet Pongal and so on. We use rice flour to make pidi kozhukattai but nowadays we get kozhukattai flour which is easier to make these recipes.

Tips to make perfect Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai:

  1. Use rice flour or kozhukattai flour.
  2. Adding 1 tsp ghee is optional but it helps to make it less sticky.
  3. Colour of your kozhukattai depends on the jaggery you use.
  4. If you don’t have powdered jaggery then use the normal jaggery.
  5. Adjust jaggery according to your preference.
  6. You can even add chopped coconut pieces instead of grated coconut.
  7. Water level differs depends on the flour that you use.

Here is the detailed recipe for Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai:

Take a pan, add 1 cup water and allow it to heat. Then add ½ cup powdered jaggery and mix well until the jaggery dissolves in the water.

Now add a pinch of salt, ¼ tsp cardamom powder,

Now add ¼ cup grated coconut and mix well.

Then keep the flame low, slowly add rice flour and mix well without forming any lumps. This will become one ball once everything is mixed. Add 1 tsp ghee (optional) and mix well. Now allow the mixture to cool down before you make them into kozhukattai shape. Now grease your hand, take small balls and make an oblong shape.

Then arrange all the kozhukattais in the steamer, cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes or until the kozhukattais turn glossy.

Sweet Pidi Kozhukattai is ready to serve.

Ingredients

  • Rice Flour - 1/2 cup
