Prawns are also known as Shrimp. It’s favourite seafood for many of us. We can make many delicious dishes using prawns. It can be cooked in many ways like prawn gravy, prawn masala, prawn biryani, and more, but prawn 65 is special and it is loved by all. It’s a simple, easy, and crunchy appetizer. Prawn 65 can also be served with any other food as an accompaniment. This goes well with Pulao, Biryani, Sambar, or Rasam. It’s a real treat for seafood lovers.

Do you like Prawns? I hope there will be none telling “No”. Because everyone loves it. It’s one of the best and popular non-Veg starters. In this video, I have cooked the most interesting recipe called “Prawn 65”. I make this very often since this can be prepared with easily available ingredients. This can be prepared using any size prawns. I have used King prawns because prawns shrink once they cooked so when we use king prawns the size will be good even after cooking otherwise the prawn size will be really small and you won’t be able to enjoy the taste.

Tips to make perfect Prawn 65:

  1. You can add egg in the marination but trust me this marination will not disappoint you.
  2. Do not cook prawns for too long. It cooks really fast.
  3. I like to use King Prawns since it tends to shrink while cooking.
  4. All-purpose flour should be less than cornflour. I use in this ration 1:3
  5. If you use too much all-purpose (maida) flour then it tastes like bajji.

Take washed and cleaned uncooked 400 gms King Prawns (you can use any size prawns)

Add 1 tbsp chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp turmeric, and 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and salt to taste.

Add a pinch of food colour (optional) and 1 tbsp lemon juice
Note: Note: Food colour is optional. You can skip if you don’t prefer to add.

Then add 1 tbsp plain flour (maida) and 3 tbsp cornflour.
Note: Cornflour should be more than all-purpose flour.

Mix everything well using hand and allow it to marinate for a few hours.
Note: If you don’t have time to marinate then go ahead and fry immediately.

Heat oil in a pan, add marinated prawns one by one and fry them till they are crispy.

Fry them in batches and don’t crowd the pan while cooking. Flip in between to cook both sides.

Prawns cook really fast so remove them once they are crispy.
Note: Prawns cook in 5 to 6 minutes.

Prawn 65 is ready to serve as an appetizer or as an accompaniment for Pulao or Biryani.
